My Experience At The Restaurant - 968 Words

There was nothing else when I was a teenage girl than becoming older so that I can finally be in charge of my own life. â€Å"You can’t have this†, â€Å"this is too expensive†, â€Å"you are too young for this† and â€Å"wait till you grow up and start working then you will see†¦Ã¢â‚¬ . I remember listening to all the quotes as if it was yesterday. When I was a teenage girl I thought that being grown up means having a job and spending the money on whatever you want. The phone call confirming my first job as a waitress in an Italian restaurant gave me a lot of excitement in my life. It gave me my first opportunity to feel grown up and independent even though I was only 16. At the time it didn’t even cross my mind that I could learn a life lesson at the†¦show more content†¦Seeing the cooks preparing the food, their passion they expressed and desire to make everything taste and look perfect was an amazing experience. Everything was great except the fact there was one individual who would always seemed to try and ruin my mood. It was one of our managers, a disgruntled woman in her 50’s. She seemed to be always upset, in a bad mood and unhappy. She never replied to anyone’s greetings, her forehead was always frowned and when asking us to do something, she sounded like shouting her orders to us. She would always have us do something else than what the other manager told us to do. Every time she entered the restaurant it was like a big, dark cloud was about to cover the sun. I was always thinking why she was acting like this but never found an answer. Trying to avoid her was the best thing I could do. Nobody liked to disagree or argue with her, even the other managers. One day, when the restaurant was booked for a birthday party. We were all assigned tasks and were trying to be done with everything on time. The music was playing, while we were decorating the venue with colorful balloons, confetti and flowers. Every time a balloon would burst, some of us jumped making others laugh. I was kneeling, trying to collect all the pieces of the busted balloon when the disgruntled manager came in. I will never forget how quickly the atmosphere changed when we noticed her.
